Irene + Boyang

We are so happy to share the florals we created for Irene and Boyang’s wedding.

Irene and Boyang wanted their wedding to honor the traditions their Chinese and American heritage. We love the way they blended two ceremonies, and celebrated their love with close family and friends.

The tea ceremony is a quintessential part of a traditional Chinese wedding. Irene and Boyang knelt in front of their parents to serve them tea as a show of respect and gratitude. In return, red envelopes filled with money and jewelry were offered to the couple.

The color red is a symbol of good luck in Chinese culture, we created a bouquet filled with shades of red anemone, spray roses, and yarrow for Irene to hold during the tea ceremony. Boyang wore a simple greenery boutonnière, accented with red maple.  Irene’s mother, an ikebana floral artist created delicate floral pieces to accent the table.

An intimate western style ceremony followed the tea ceremony. Organic style arrangements filled with garden roses and ranunculus decorated the alter. Irene carried an organic blush and burgundy bouquet down the aisle, blooming with garden roses, ranunculus, a pop of blue tweedia, and tied with flowing silk.

Instead the hanging installation we had planned, a last minute rain call and location switch meant we had to be prepared to enact a completely design for Irene and Boyangs’ reception space.

We always strive to create designs that complement, and fit in with their setting. Soft pink larkspur and roses combined to create brilliant, bursting floral installations that flanked the new reception area at the Williamsburg Community Building. Wooden farm tables were decorated with overflowing bowls of seasonal fruit nestled in amongst repurposed bouquets and low vases of peony, roses, and columbine.

This beautiful day was planned to perfection by The Wedding Company of Williamsburg and Brett and Jessica Photography beautifully captured every stunning detail.

Congratulations Irene and Boyang!
